Back in the day people seen masturbation as disgusting, unherd of, the cause of an illness! People masturbate for comfort, plearsure or maybe just out of boredom, some people masturbate with their partner as part of their foreplay. It is done for many different reasons and is not a bad thing to do, although people see it as bad! It is not a hot topic that you would talk about over the dinner table, its a private and personal thing! So keep it to yourself!!!

Somewhere I read that jewish rabbis forbid masturbation because it is a waste of semen, which may prevent the advent of the son of God to come to Earth. It seems that we Christians have inherited that concept.
